Boston Bruins

Right now to be a Boston Bruins fan means you either really love roller-coasters (the bigger the better) or you just like being nauseous a lot. They will take you to some of the greatest highs and the deepest lows you can feel (seriously, even if you just follow your own favorite team there is NO WAY you don't know the ending to the B's season this past spring - I will not dwell on it, it has taken months of therapy and couple of buckets of tequila, but I am now able to watch playoff games without crying....much).

This season is starting off at the top of the biggest roller coaster hill you've ever seen. It's either going to be an epic thrill ride or will end in utter, gut-wrenching, disaster & merciless pain. Never let it be said the Bruins are a boring team to watch.

It will be Thomas vs Tuukka for the starting goalie position. I think Tuukka is awesome, but I'd love to see Timmy back in net.
Then it will be the battle of positions. Will Seguin be a center or a winger? If he centers does Savard get traded? If Savard gets traded who gets 4th line center? Who are going to be the wingers? Will Ryder step up his game or become one of the most over paid players in the AHL? What happens when Marco Sturm is ready to be taken of IR as that will put the team over the cap limit? Exactly how many AHL players will be pulled up to play with the big boys and how many of those boys will look like AHL players on NHL ice? And most importantly will the Bruins be able to re-sign Chara and Bergeron before the end of the season???

Love 'em or hate 'em the Bruins are going to be a team to watch (even if it's for the "car crash" factor).
Plus, you all know you are looking forward to more Bruins ads like this one:

Newly appt President: Cam Neely (whoohoo!!!)

GM: Peter Chiarelli

Coach: Claude Julien (with his frequently seen "did these boys forget how to play hockey?" look this past season)

Captain: The Big "Z" - aka Zdeno Chara

Players everyone should love: Tim Thomas (because he looks like a teddy bear, is one of the nicest people you could ever meet & despite losing the staring position last season he is still one of the best goalies in the NHL), Mark Recchi (the man makes the Energizer Bunny look like a slacker), Shawn Thornton (because he's big & mean on the ice & a rare ginger who can pull off a handlebar mustache) & Milan Lucic (hate him all you want he's adorable and he's OURS)

Players I don't love: At the moment Michael Ryder (not because he played like crap the whole season - he had his moments -it was the little comments he made that made me want to run him over with a Zamboni - example "I’ll learn from the playoffs, the things that I did a little different, maybe try to do a little more in the regular season, like getting prepared and stuff like that. It’s a lot easier to get motivated for games in the playoffs than the regular season sometimes.”
--seriously if a player on your favorite team made a statement like that wouldn't you want to hunt him down and re-enact a certain scene from Slap Shot with him? What NHL player says he has to learn to get "prepared and stuff like that" for the regular season??? He better find his scoring ability and a lock for his mouth or I will personally drive him down to the AHL.

Who we lost: Vladmir Sobotka (there went at least 1 point on the hotness scale), Steve Begin, Miroslav Satan (last minute signing, but did a great job I'm sorry to see he is still unsigned for this season), Dennis Wideman (let the haters hate, I didn't think the guy was so bad he just had an amazing ability to make some really dumb moves at the worst possible moments) & a whole bunch of guys (AHLers) who played 5 games or less with the Bs.

Who we got: Tyler Seguin (I'm both excited & nervous - he could be the next great Boston player or he could become the next Alexander Svitov - remember him? anyone? Yea, me neither, I had to look that one up), Nathan Hornton, Gregory Campbell, Jeremy Reich & then a whole lot of AHLers getting a shot at "stardom" in training camp (ok, they weren't new signings, but we didn't get a whole lot of new faces through trades or free agent signings).

Signed & Sealed then being shopped around, then trade bait, but then not being traded, waived no trade clause, didn't waive no trade clause, not being traded, can't be traded, makes too much money, going to be part of the team this fall (might be traded later): Marc Savard & Tim Thomas - honestly how can one team have so much drama involving two players where, in the end, nothing happens???

Located at: TD Garden

Hotness level: hmmm...who do I get to include? The final roster isn't "final" yet....well, using the guys I know are going to be starting I'll go with 7.

With guys like Patrice Bergeron, Marc Savard, Milan Lucic, Tyler Seguin, Andrew Ference, Shawn Thornton, Tim Thomas (yes, my cutie is being included) & Cam Neely (no I will not leave him out he may be President now, but he is forever a Bruin) I refuse to give less than a 7 and while we have a couple of real bow-wows most of the other guys just aren't offensive enough to bring down the hotness factor created by our core hotties.
